Are you a young engineer or an engineering student looking for a new challenge? Are you a confident public speaker who can engage both technical and non-technical audiences?
“SOfE” (Speak Out for Engineering) is a renowned presentation competition organised annually by IMechE to encourage young engineers to showcase their talents in ‘speaking’ technical mechanical engineering subjects to technical and non-technical audiences.
We encourage you to take the challenge and compete in the “SOfE” NZ 2022 competition. It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your current project (i.e. Final year project) or a project you completed in the last 12 months. Entries are now open. The virtual competition will take place on the 16th November 2022. Pre-recorded video submission is to be made prior to the competition. Q&A will be livestreamed on the day after each participant’s pre-recorded video.
The winner will receive a certificate, a cash prize of approximately $600 NZD and an opportunity to represent NZ for the SOfE Oceania 2023 competition. The runner up will receive a certificate and a cash prize of approximately $400 NZD.
Please download the competitor’s registration form to enter and send entries to our secretary, Lindsay Robertson (nzsec@imechenearyou.org). Questions to Lilly Peng (lilly.peng@auckland.ac.nz), Young Engineers representative, NZ Panel IMechE. If a promising applicant is not currently an IMechE member, then membership can easily be arranged via affiliate or other membership. The NZ Panel of IMechE will certainly assist such applications!
