Speak out for Engineering

Duncan Henderson has won the world SOFE 2018 competition in Delhi! Speak Out for Engineering is an international public speaking contest run by IMechE and supported by the Mechanical Engineering Group and Engineering New Zealand Wellington Branch.

Duncan received runner up in the Wellington round of the contest and was invited to compete in the Australasian final which he won. He was then given the opportunity to compete in the world final in Delhi, which he also won! A big congratulations to Duncan!

Speak Out for Engineering offers individual entrants the opportunity to give an oral presentation on a subject relating to mechanical engineering and compete for a cash prize.

The competition is open to Affiliates, Associates and Young Members of IMechE. For students members there is Affiliate membership which is free to apprentices or undergraduate students studying science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) subjects. There are cash prizes for 1st and 2nd Places. The winner of the heat will go on to compete in the New Zealand Finals for the opportunity to compete in the Oceania Finals and then the World Finals.
