An electric ferry has sailed into the history books after travelling more than 90km on a single battery charge.

Danish engineering firm Danfoss will apply for a Guinness World Record for the longest journey by an electric ferry following the trip, which took place on 9 June between the islands of Ærø and Als in Southern Denmark.

Timed to coincide with the International Energy Agency’s 7th Annual Global Conference on Energy Efficiency, the Ellen travelled 92km on a single charge, more than double its usual 40km route between the two islands.
